Secret behind Maha Shivarathiri

Divine angels and deities reside under some majestic trees like Vilvam tree, Vepalai tree, Arasa tree etc., so these trees having immense divine power. The leaves of such trees act as receptacles of divine powers emitted by the deities manifested therein. They also draw divine sakthis from the stars and planets and transmit around. Just by standing near these trees you can get some peace, tranquility and also removes some bad elements layered deep in your human system.

On Maha Shivarathiri, Vilvam trees and the divine beings who reside on them will receive enormous power from the planets and stars related to Lord Shiva. If you are blessed to go near Vilvam trees on this day then you will get their blessings to remove your mental stress/illness and heal other inner problems to help you to in tune with Lord Shiva during the Shiva rathiri night practices. I want you to find Vilvam tree on this day, commune by touching them and pluck the tender leaves and if possible also ripe vilvam fruits to offer Lord Shiva. Be in fasting  from morning, stay awake through out the night, do meditation and rituals. Lord Shiva will visit earth plane on this day and fix your inner self for a successful life. You may break fast the next morning.

Meditation is very much related to Lord Shiva and the ultimate goal of meditation is to still your mind. Mind is nothing but the process of your thoughts. Thoughts are influenced by emotions. And emotions are influenced by the Moon phases. Since Shivarathiri is a no moon day, there will be minimal or no emotions and thoughts in you. The great siddha masters understood the science behind this day and device a methodical system called ritual, meditation techniques and gave to us so that we can understand the pricipal of Shiva and realize our true potential power. Once when you understand him then you will be one with him and everything around you will start to be harmony with you.

If you are at Shiva temple recite Na Ma Si Va Ya for 18 X with your eyes clossed. Then slowly open your eyes and look at the Shiva Linggam. If you are in tune with him then you will be lucky to see him giving darshan from the Linggam.

Adi Shankaracharya - how to empty and free your mind

How to Empty and Free your Mind

A nice story of Adi Shankaracharya teaching his students how8 to empty and free their mind:

"Adi Sankara was walking through the market place with his disciples.

They saw a man dragging a cow by a rope.

Sankara told the man to wait and asked his disciples to surround them.

"I am going to teach you something" and continued...

"Tell me who is bound to whom? Is the cow bound to this man or the man is bound to the cow?"

The disciples said without hesitation "Of course the cow is bound to the man!. The man is the master. He is holding the rope. The cow has to follow him wherever he goes. The man is the master and the cow is the slave."

"Now watch this", said Sankara and took a pair of scissors from his bag and cut the rope.

The cow ran away from the master and the man ran after his cow. "Look, what is happening", said Sankara

"Do you see who the Master is? The cow is not at all interested in this man. The cow in fact, is trying to escape from this man.

This is the case with our MIND.

Like the cow, all the non-sense that we carry inside is not interested in us. WE ARE INTERESTED IN IT, we are keeping it together somehow or the other. We are going crazy trying to keep it all together under our control.

The moment we lose interest in all the garbage filled in our head, and the moment we understand the futility of it, it will start to disappear. Like the cow, it will escape and disappear."
